Hi! I’m Kia.

I am a passionate educator, writer, and advocate for equity by way of representation in the world language curriculum and classroom. I carry seventeen years of experience in the classroom, and have taught Spanish to second language learners, native, and heritage speakers, for all grade levels K-12. I currently teach Spanish to 5th and 6th grade students, and I work in an additional capacity as a DEI+B Coordinator to support faculty and staff in anti bias and culturally responsive practices in my school community. 

Trailblazers in the World Language Classroom is community to ask any questions that you have pertaining to challenges you have encountered, share your progress, heartfelt stories and testimonies, what you are doing in the classroom, and most importantly a place to grow!
